One product line, one neighbourhood, and no relationship with the manufacturer. Here is exactly what that means before you book anything.
Independent, and specific about it
Loretto Cold Service is an independent appliance repair company. We are not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Sub-Zero or its parent company. All brand names and model numbers are the property of their respective owners and are used only to identify the appliances we service.
That paragraph is on every page of this site, above the fold, because it is the most important thing to be clear about. There is a manufacturer-run service network and this is not it. We are a separate business that has chosen to work on one manufacturer's refrigeration, which is a different thing entirely and gives you a different set of trade-offs.
What you give up is a factory relationship. What you get is that the person who answers the phone is the person who will be standing in your kitchen, and that the job is not being routed through a call centre to whoever happens to be nearest.
Why one product line
Sub-Zero makes refrigeration and only refrigeration: built-in refrigerators and freezers, integrated columns, undercounter units, refrigerator and freezer drawers, wine storage and ice makers. There are no ovens, no cooktops and no dishwashers in the range, which means one line of products is a complete and coherent thing to specialise in rather than a fragment of a catalogue.
Working on the same sealed systems, the same evaporator fans and the same control boards every day has a practical effect that is hard to overstate: the second and third time you see a fault, you recognise it. A shop covering eleven brands across cooking, laundry and refrigeration is meeting most faults for the first time.
Why Mandarin
Mandarin is compact. From Beauclerc at the north end to Julington Creek at the county line is a short drive, and nothing in 32223, 32257, 32258 is far from anything else. That is not a marketing preference, it is what makes the model work: a return visit with an ordered part is a short trip rather than half a day, so parts do not sit for a week waiting for a route to make sense.
It also means the local conditions are consistent enough to know well. The housing runs largely to 1970s through 1990s subdivisions with older riverfront homes along Mandarin Road, nearly every one of those kitchens has been remodelled at least once so the appliance is newer than the opening it sits in, and the tree canopy that makes the neighbourhood pleasant is what packs a condenser. Those three facts explain most of what we are called about.
What we claim, and what we do not

- Federal certification to recover, evacuate and charge sealed refrigeration systems. Required by law for anyone opening a sealed system, and genuinely held here.

EPA Section 608 is the only certification named anywhere on this site, and it is a real federal credential for handling refrigerant that is genuinely held here. We do not describe this company as certified, authorized or factory trained by the manufacturer, because it is none of those things.
Customer reviews are published on this site, and the rules around them are the same ones. They appear with a first name and a last initial, which is all anyone agreed to. The average printed beside them is the plain arithmetic mean of that set and nothing else, so it can be checked against the entries it summarises. The four-star and three-star ones are left in, because a page of nothing but fives tells a reader less than one honest complaint about a part that took three weeks. They are all on the reviews page.
